A WORD FROM THE PASTOR:
Dear Northside Family,
I was contacted by Dr. Lloyd Stilley last week inviting our church to be a part of their Good Friday service on April 19 at 6:00 p.m.
The theme for the service is “The Three Nails.” Dr. Stilley will speak concerning the first nail, The Nail of our Guilt (“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”). Bro. Greg Tinker will deal with the second nail, The Nail of Abandonment (“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”). I will speak on the third nail, The Nail of Death and Hell (“Into Your hands I commit My spirit.”). We will have ten minutes to speak concerning each nail. At the end of the service we will observe the Lord’s Supper. It should be a great service as we join together with our fellow Christians to celebrate and remember what a tremendous price our Lord paid for us to have eternal life in heaven. I hope to see you there.
This Wednesday night at 6:00 our Bible Drillers will participate in the church drill. The associational drill will be the following afternoon at 5:00. Once again, our children have worked very hard to prepare for these drills. What they are able to accomplish is truly amazing.
We will observe the Lord’s Supper this Sunday morning at the conclusion of the worship service. Deacons, if you haven’t already communicated with Bro. Blake concerning your availability to serve, please do so as soon as possible.

Youth & Education
Anchored in Hope
This is the theme for our Youth Ministry in 2019. Hebrews 6:19 is the focal verse for this idea that as believers we are “Anchored in Hope” through Christ. We will be getting t-shirts for the group. We will make these shirts available to anyone who would like one. Ordering info coming soon. Here is what the shirts will look like.
For years research has proven that people are more open to attend church during the weeks leading up to Christmas and Easter than at any other time of the year. All that is needed for most of these people is an invitation from someone they know. How many people do you know that are not involved in Bible study and/or worship on a weekly basis? How hard would it be to invite this person/family to join us at Northside during this time? Probably not as hard as you think, and the result of your invitation could have eternal significance. A few weeks ago, Bro. Shawn wrote and asked us who was our “one.” If you don’t have a “one,” get one then work to build a relationship that will lead to inviting him or her to church.
Sunday, April 28, will be the day for our annual Youth Sunday. Our students will be taking leadership positions during Bible Study and morning worship on that day. Adult teachers, if you would like for one of our students to lead your class that day, please see me ASAP.
There are two opportunities this week to support our children who are participating in Bible Drill. The church drill is Wednesday night during the Prayer Meeting time and the associational drill is Thursday afternoon at 5:00 here at NBC. Even if you can’t be present, please be praying for our drillers. The Regional/State Drill will be at Meadow Brook Baptist Church in Hoover on Sunday, April 14.

MUSIC & OUTREACH
A few weeks ago in this space I asked you “Who’s Your One?” Now I have another question for you. What’s your story? I want to hear about the gospel conversations you’re having with those who are lost. Tell me about how you prayed for that person. Tell me about how you started the conversation. You might even want to share a story about a conversation that didn’t go well. I’d like to take excerpts from these stories and share them (without mentioning any names) on our screens on Sundays or maybe on social media to help remind others that these conversations need to be a part of every Christian’s life. Feel free to tell me as much or as little as you want. For an example, I’ll share my recent gospel conversation story with you. I have recently met and friended two employees at a local restaurant. We chat every time I go in. I’ve been praying for them both and have been looking for an opportunity to talk to them about Jesus. I walked in that restaurant one day recently prayed up and ready to start a life changing conversation with one of them. Would you believe the phone rang just as I was about to ask her, “What would you say if someone asked why you should get into heaven?” Then more customers came in. Then a lot more customers came in. Even though I was ready, it was clearly not the right time to have that conversation. The good news is, my story is not over. I’m still ready to have that conversation with them both and I am looking for the right time to do so. What’s your story? Email it to me.
Easter Egg Hunt
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20, from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the home of Jared and Alisha Barton. This event will be for children ages 4 through 5th grade. Children do not need to bring
eggs, just a bucket or basket to hold the eggs they find. We need parents to bring individually wrapped pieces of candy to be put inside the plastic eggs. Please bring candy to the church by Sunday, April 14. Check for a basket in the foyer as well as in the fellowship hall on Sunday night. If you need directions to the Barton home please see Alisha or Jared. Alisha suggests that parents may want to bring camp chairs to sit in while children hunt the eggs.
