A WORD FROM THE PASTOR:
Dear Northside Family,
This Sunday morning, we will be receiving our gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.
Our goal this year is $9,750. Our North American Mission Board personnel are counting on all Southern Baptists to come alongside them as together we reach this continent for Christ. As we have seen during this emphasis through the videos highlighting each missionary family, the world has indeed come to America.
Our Bible Drillers have been so impressive this year as in previous years. They have excelled in the church drill and the associational drill. Now it is on to the regional/state drill this Sunday afternoon at Meadow Brook Baptist Church in Birmingham. Be in prayer for each of our six drillers as they advance to this final stage.
This Sunday evening at 6:00 we will be blessed to hear our adult choir as they present their Easter musical, “My Easter Story.” This would be an excellent time to invite that lost or unchurched neighbor, friend or family member to hear the gospel message in a non-threatening setting. Also, let me ask you to pray for the choir members, musicians, technical personnel and Bro. Shawn as they all lead us in a beautiful night of worship.

Youth & Education
Anchored in Hope
This is the theme for our Youth Ministry in 2019. Hebrews 6:19 is the focal verse for this idea that as believers we are “Anchored in Hope” through Christ. We will be getting t-shirts for the group. We will make these shirts available to anyone who would like one. To Order a shirt, isgn up on the counter in the youth hall. Shirts are $10 each and must be ordered by April 28. Please pay me when you place your order. Here is what the shirts will look like.
Sunday, April 28, will be the day for our annual Youth Sunday. Our students will be taking leadership positions during Bible Study and morning worship on that day. Adult teachers, if you would like for one of our students to lead your class that day, please see me ASAP.
Would you be willing to park off campus for Easter Sunday morning? The Regions Bank lot in front of the Jasper Mall is available to us as are the lots in front of T. J. Maxx on the east side of our building. Consider getting here early on Easter and parking in one of these places so that there will be ample room for others to join us for worship. Thanks!

MUSIC & OUTREACH
April is shaping up to be a great month at Northside. In addition to our Easter musical this Sunday night and Easter celebration on April 21, April 28 is going to be a wonderful day at NBC. You’ve likely already read about youth Sunday in John’s article in this newsletter. After the youth Sunday service that morning, we’ll have Sunday of Service. You may recall that we’ve done this before.
Sunday of Service is a day we set aside to serve our community. After morning worship that day, we’ll gather for a quick lunch together then break up into teams to go out and serve people in the community in many different ways. Some teams may be doing light construction or yardwork. Others may bake and take cookies to local first responders. Another team may simply take time to visit homebound and nursing home residents. The idea is to simply do something for someone else that afternoon. Here’s where I need your help. Do you know of a friend or neighbor with a need? Do you know of a way a team from Northside can help someone and share the love of Jesus? If so, let me know. I’ll be organizing our Sunday of Service teams in the coming weeks and would love to hear any ideas you might have for ways our teams can serve others. Sunday School classes, if your class wants to handle your own project, that’s ok too. Just let me know. That evening, we’ll all gather back at the church for a fellowship meal and a time of sharing about our day. God doesn’t call us to go to church. He calls us to be the church. I hope you’ll join us that day and be the church to someone in need. In case of bad weather that day, Sunday of Service will be postponed one week, to May 5.
Easter Egg Hunt
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20, from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the home of Jared and Alisha Barton. This event will be for children ages 4 through 5th grade. Children do not need to bring
eggs, just a bucket or basket to hold the eggs they find. We need parents to bring individually wrapped pieces of candy to be put inside the plastic eggs. Please bring candy to the church by Sunday, April 14. Check for a basket in the foyer as well as in the fellowship hall on Sunday night. If you need directions to the Barton home please see Alisha or Jared. Alisha suggests that parents may want to bring camp chairs to sit in while children hunt the eggs.
