A WORD FROM THE PASTOR:
Dear Church family,
I want to thank everyone who helped “pack the pills” this past Sunday. It was a beautiful picture of the body of Christ working together to accomplish the same goal. Thanks also to everyone who prepared the delicious meal. Everyone who helped with the project made an investment in the people of Honduras who will be served by our team. Think of it, those who visit the clinics will be taking the medicines that you helped count and package. The first of our teams will leave for Honduras this Sunday. The second team will leave on Saturday, February 23, and join the first team for a week of clinics and Bible studies at the orphanage. Glen Gravlee will be joining another group as they serve in Mexico starting this Friday. They will be doing medical missions as well.
Thanks to everyone who is praying for my recovery from knee replacement surgery. By the time you receive this newsletter the surgery will have taken place, and the real work of recovery will be underway. I am grateful for a church and deacons who are allowing me the time to be away as I recover and rehab. My plan is to be more effective in ministry once both surgeries are over. -Bro. YOUTH & EDUCATION
There is a group meeting for every age group and gender in our fellowship at this time. You are missing some great teaching and fellowship if you are not joining in with one of these groups. Check out either the lady’s group that meets in the Self/Ross SS room, the young mom’s group that meets in the Redmill/Bailey SS room, or the men’s group that meets in the David Hendon SS room. All groups meet Sundays at 5:00 p.m.
A Titan’s Challenge
On Sunday, February 17, at the Carl Cannon Colosseum, Quinn Rivera, who was a participant in the Titan Games on NBC, will be sharing some feats of strength and sharing his story of his walk with Christ. This event begins at 5:00 p.m. Quinn will share for a while and the evening will end with a pizza supper in the JHS cafeteria where he will be available for pictures and questions. This will be a great time for inviting unchurched friends to hear about the Lord outside of the church walls.
Boston Butt Sale
Our students will begin selling Boston Butts from Son’s Smokehouse on March 3 and the sale will end on March 17. The butts will be $40.00 each. That is the price stipulated by Son’s. This fundraiser will help our students pay for Fuge and potentially other youth events and activities through the summer. You will receive a card that will allow you to pick up your BB any time within a three month time frame, except weekends where there is a holiday. All you have to do is call the number on the card a day ahead of when you want to pick it up. Thanks in advance for helping our students go to Greenville, SC to do mission work this summer. We will also be doing some mission activities in our area throughout the summer. -Bro. John firstname.lastname@example.org
MUSIC & OUTREACH
Last week, I told you about Realm, our exciting new online church membership management and communication tool that will be launching soon. As with anything that is online, I know there are concerns about security. I want to address some of those concerns today regarding your contact information (Name, address, email, and phone numbers.)
1.) Your information is your information. In Realm, you have complete control over who can see your contact and personal information.
2.) Contact information is never public or searchable on the Internet. Any information you elect to make visible to our church family is always protected behind a login.
3.) Authorized staff will always have access to your contact information.
4.) You and authorized staff may update your profile information.
5.) For safety reasons, sharing contact and personal information for children under 18 is limited. Parents determine whether or not to display their child’s name in the online church directory.
6.) Children under 13 can not participate and will not be able to sign in and communicate with others through Realm. (This age limit is in place by federal child safety laws.)
When Realm is ready to launch at Northside, you’ll receive an email inviting you to join. Please take a minute and make sure we have your email address on file by sending an email to me at this address. - Bro. Shawn email@example.com
February is Scholarship Emphasis Month
Our church is blessed to be able to offer scholarships to members of Northside who meet the requirements. Applications will be available in March so watch for further information. Would you consider giving to one of the three scholarships? If so, just designate that you are doing so on your contribution envelope.
The Freda Cook Memorial Scholarship
The Arthur Douglas Memorial Scholarship
The Click Jaye Honorary Scholarship
Hoops For Annie
Easter is not until April 21, but our RA boys are getting a head start!!! They will be doing a Hoops for Annie missions fundraiser again this year. They will start practicing their shooting skills on Wednesdays Feb.20 through March 3. Each Wednesday they will leave the church at 6:00 p.m. sharp and return by 7:00 p.m. Their shoot-out event will be March 13. This is being done early because the kids switch from RAs and GAs to children’s choir on April 6. Any questions should be addressed to Wes Lamon.
