A WORD FROM THE PASTOR:
Dear Church family,
Cliff Case was called to missions as an exchange student living and studying for a year in Nigeria. When there was tension between Cliff and his fellow exchange student, he sought the Lord’s counsel as how to handle the difficult situation. The only thing he sensed the Lord telling him was, “Cliff, I want you to be a missionary.” As Cliff kept asking the Lord for help, he kept sensing the Lord telling him the same thing, “Cliff, I want you to be a missionary.” Finally, Cliff said, “Okay, I’ll be a missionary.” That was almost thirty-eight years ago.
Cliff and his wife, Cinthy, along with their sons, Caleb and Clayton, serve in Colina, a suburb just north of Santiago, the capital city. They serve in this area and work to build a relationship between the mission point and the local school. Every year, First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa sends a team to Colina where they teach English in the local school. Two evenings during the week, the team along with the missionaries conduct Bible studies in neighborhood homes. These consist mainly of new families not connected with the church but who have shown interest in Christ. On two other nights, team members make home visits. The week is a success as a bond is strengthened between a Southern Baptist Church and the Chilean mission.
Cliff wears a lot of hats as an IMB missionary. He is a church planter. He’s a sports evangelist. He’s a volunteer coordinator. He’s a mentor to other church planters. Cliff says the thing he enjoys the most is seeing the light bulb come on when someone understands the gospel, and he has the opportunity to lead that person to Christ. - Bro. David
YOUTH & EDUCATION MINISTRY
Discipleship Training - There is a group meeting for every age group and gender in our fellowship at this time. You are missing some great teaching and fellowship if you are not joining in with one of these groups. Check out either the lady’s group that meets in the Self/Ross SS room, the young mom’s group that meets in the Redmill/Bailey SS room, or the men’s group that meets in the David Hendon SS room. All groups are meeting at 5:00 p.m.
Northside's Got Talent – The banquet will be on Saturday, February 9, at 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. We have combed the church for great talent, and you will be wowed and amazed by what we have found. Come ready to have a good time. As always, proceeds from the banquet will help offset the cost of our youth going to Fuge.
A Titan’s Challenge – On Sunday, February 17, at the Carl Cannon Colosseum, Quinn Rivera, who was a participate in the Titan Games on NBC, will be sharing some feats of strength and sharing his story of his walk with Christ. This event begins at 5:00 p.m. Quinn will share for a while and the evening will end with a pizza supper in the JHS cafeteria where he will be available for pictures and questions. This will be a great time for inviting unchurched friends to hear about the Lord outside of the church walls.
MUSIC & OUTREACH
Have you heard about Realm?
Our church is moving to a new kind of membership and accounting record keeping called Realm. It primarily serves the administrative needs of our staff, but it also offers some exciting opportunities to support the way you are involved in our church. I want to tell you a little about those opportunities today. Realm will give us more ways to communicate and connect as a church, all while leaving current methods in place. With Realm, you determine how much you want to make this part of your experience with our church. Realm includes features like an online church directory, easy communication for your group or class, and even online giving. Yes. You read that right. Soon, you will have the ability to give to Northside or pay for events online by credit or debit card. All of these can be accessed through any web browser or through the app we’ll tell you more about soon. Realm is for our church family and close friends only. It is not open to the public. So, we have a first step for you today. Your first step in getting access to Realm, once it is made available to the whole church, is to make sure we have your email address on file so that we can send you an email invite to activate your Realm profile. Send me an email at email@example.com if you are not certain we have your email address on file.
