A WORD FROM THE PASTOR:

Dear Church family,

Once again, I want to thank all of you who have been praying for me since my surgery. I am making good progress. My therapist told me Monday afternoon that I am exactly where I need to be in my recovery. Before surgery I tried to imagine how tough the therapy was going to be. My imagination wasn’t nearly as accurate as it needed to be. With all that being said, I am going to attempt to be in the pulpit this Sunday. Your prayers will surely be appreciated.

I was so excited to hear the report from members of our Honduras mission team Sunday. Their passion for the people of Honduras is so obvious. Whether you went on the trip, prayed for those who were able to go, donated glasses, or your tithes and offerings helped them go, you were a part of the team. Now we just need to pray for the Lord of the harvest to take the planted seeds and bring them to fruition. Hopefully in July when the team returns, they will be able to reel in some of those the Holy Spirit has snagged. The Honduran people are such a beautiful people, but as you know, that’s not a prerequisite for getting to go to heaven. I, for one, am glad for that fact. I especially want to thank Barney for taking the team to the airport in the early morning hours and for picking them up late into the night.   -Bro. David  david@nbcjasper.net

YOUTH & EDUCATION

Boston Butt Sale

Our students will begin selling Boston Butts from Son’s Smokehouse on March 3 and the sale will end on March 17. The butts will be $40.00 each. That is the price stipulated by Son’s. This fundraiser will help our students pay for Fuge and potentially other youth events and activities through the summer. You will receive a card that will allow you to pick up your Boston Butt any time within a three month time frame, except weekends where there is a holiday. All you have to do is call the number on the card a day ahead of when you want to pick it up. The smokehouse is open Thursday though Saturday. Thanks in advance for helping our students go to Greenville, SC, to do mission work this summer. We will also be doing some mission activities in our area throughout the summer.

Youth Rally

The next area Youth Rally will be on Wednesday, March 13 at Farmstead Baptist Church. The start time has been changed to 6:00 p.m., so we will need to leave the church by 5:30. If you are driving, meet us there by 5:50. The band Awaken, from Treveca Nazarene University in Nashville will be leading worship. We will be back to NBC by 8:00 p.m.

Anchored in Hope

This is the theme for our Youth Ministry in 2019. Hebrews 6:19 is the focal verse for this idea that as believers we are “Anchored in Hope” through Christ. We will be getting t-shirts for the group. We will make these shirts available to anyone who would like one after a design is chosen. Watch the Realm app for a picture coming soon.

Paint the Base

We will meet around 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, to clean up in the youth wing and paint The Base room. We hope to have all the preliminary work done on the lights and the ceiling so that painting will finish it off. If you are staying in town during Spring Break, make it a point to come and help out.

MUSIC & OUTREACH

Who’s your one? That’s a question I’ve heard a lot recently. The question is asked assuming that you have one person in mind that you need to talk to about Jesus. I’m not talking about inviting someone to church. I’m talking about having a gospel conversation. When you think of people you know who haven’t experienced the salvation that can only come through Jesus, who comes to mind first? That person is your one. Are you praying for that person regularly? Are you making any efforts to have that conversation with them? If not, why not? As followers of Christ, we are all called to make disciples. That begins by telling someone that Jesus is their only hope to be saved from the eternal consequences of their sin. I know that having those conversations can be difficult sometimes, but no one ever said that following Jesus would be easy. In fact, Jesus actually said it would be just the opposite. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” With that in mind, I have two questions for you today. “Who’s your one?” and “Do you love that person enough to talk to him or her about Jesus?”  - Bro.
