A WORD FROM THE PASTOR:
Dear Northside Family,
This year’s edition of Vacation Bible School is right around the corner. It is one of the greatest evangelism events in which any church can be involved. We will have the opportunity to have a hundred children or so in our church for a week of Bible study where we will have the privilege of telling them about Jesus Christ and His love for them. Everyone can be involved in one way or another. Which way will you choose to get involved this year?
It’s not too early to begin making plans to attend this year’s Gridiron Men’s Conference on Father’s Day weekend. We have some money budgeted to help offset the cost of attending. This year’s cost is $109. The conference takes place on a Friday night and Saturday morning. We have gone for the last three years, and it is a fantastic conference. Friday night will feature Christian comedian, Michael Jr. and James Merritt. Saturday morning’s lineup includes Jake Olson, Tony Evans, and Phil Waldrep. Musicians will be Josh Turner and Charles Billingsley. If you think you would like to go with us and have a great experience, let me know so we can help you get registered.

Youth & Education
Our annual Graduate Recognition Service will be this Sunday. The recognition time begins with breakfast for the graduates and their families at 9:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Graduates will be recognized in the morning service that will feature a slide presentation of pictures chronicling each graduate’s life. Please make a point to join us for this time of recognition.
VBS Registration – We are now registering for “In The Wild.” VBS will be June 3-7, with Family night set for Friday, June 7. Teachers and decorators are already prepping for a great week. Please, take a minute and think of who you can invite to be involved with us for VBS this year. There are some invitations on the registration table that your children can take to school to invite their classmates. Classes will be available for children who are finishing Pre-K right up through those completing 5th grade. Classes for younger children will be for VBS workers’ children only. You can register your children online here.
Look for a poster in the next week or so that will give you options as to what you can purchase to help with VBS snack each day. Ms. Lou and her crew will be fixing up goodies each day for the children to enjoy. Each snack will go along with the “In the Wild” theme and be matched to the study for the day. Please bring the items you choose to donate by Wednesday, May 29. Thanks in advance for your help.
There will be a special work time for helping with VBS decorations on Sunday, May 19, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. This will take place in the fellowship hall. Some painting and cutting will be involved, so bring your brushes and scissors.
There will be an important meeting concerning Fuge following the morning worship service on May 19. Track time cards will be handed out, and Fuge balances will be available. All balances must be paid by Sunday, May 26, in order for us to be paid up on time and not incur a penalty.

MUSIC & OUTREACH
This message regarding outreach today is more “in-reach” related. My brother-in-law is a pastor at a church in the McCalla area. Recently I watched a video of one of their services online and in it he said something that made me laugh. He was talking to that church family about Bible study groups, like Sunday School, and how important it is to be involved in a small group. He then specifically addressed those in the room who attend worship but are not part of a small group Bible study. He said “Maybe you’ve visited a group before and didn’t like the teacher. If so, visit another class. Didn’t like the style of teaching? Visit another class. Maybe you thought the people in the class you visited were weird. Guess what? Maybe they thought you were weird too. Go be weird together. Worshiping in church regularly is a vital part of our walk with God. Jesus modeled that for us. So I’m glad you’re here, but being a part of a small group to encourage you in your Christian walk is also important. Jesus and His disciples modeled that too.” If you're not actively involved in a Bible study group at Northside on Sunday mornings, give it a try. You just might be glad you did.
Rehearsals for the VBS musical continue on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. and Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. throughout this month. Parents, please make sure your kids are at all rehearsals.
During the month of June, we will have very few rehearsals. Be sure not to miss any rehearsals in May as
we prepare for future Sundays.
Class invitations are now available at the VBS Registration Table. Each NBC KID, PreK-5th Grade, is
asked to invite classmates to VBS, June 3-7. Parents of the younger children will need to pick up the invitations and help get names on them. These will need to be given out before the last day of school for each child.

If you’d be willing to serve in ETC, please let Bro. John know. We sure could use some extra folks!
